Adéla Sandness, PhD, is an associate professor at the St. Francis Xavier University Department of Religious Studies where she teaches Hinduism and Buddhism. A specialist in Vedic Studies, she has lived as a Buddhist nun and is an active member of the Nova Scotia Buddhist sangha. She cultivates principles of respectful compassionate awareness of self, other and society in relation to her work with students.
