Foundations of Applied Mindfulness
Deepening our Practice and Understanding of Mindfulness: a 6-month collaborative learning community starting Sunday, October 30, 2016.

Given the many sources of information now available, knowing how best to bring mindfulness into our work/living environment can be a challenge. Faculty of the Atlantic Contemplative Centre warmly invite you to join us in a 6 month exploration of the foundations of Applied Mindfulness as part of a collaborative learning community.
Who should attend this program?
People with established mindfulness practice who are interested in deepening their personal practice and exploring the current concepts and practices involved in the application of mindfulness in the workplace, home, and community.
You will learn:
- To develop confidence and skills in the application of mindfulness to create more mindful and compassionate workplaces, homes, and communities.
- To deepen your own personal mindfulness practice.
- To understand the frameworks and science that support bringing mindfulness and compassion into the workplace, home, and community.
The Foundations of Applied Mindfulness Program includes:
- Two day-long retreats, one at the beginning and one at the end of the program
- Five major presentations (in person and online) introducing key issues in the field of mindfulness:
- The history of the mindfulness movement including its relationship to wisdom traditions, particularly Buddhism.
- Practice forms for mindfulness, including meditation, movement, contemplation, and interactions.
- Ethical considerations including issues diversity, inclusion, social justice and cultural sensitivity, and preparing ourselves to be mentors, teachers, facilitators.
- Relevant core concepts from western and Buddhist psychology.
- Implications and limitations of recent research in mindfulness.
- Five collaborative learning laboratories to explore these themes, in person and online.
- One-to-one mentorship meetings each month.
- A commitment of approximately 10 hours per month, plus personal mindfulness practice time.
- A certificate of completion at the conclusion of the program.
- Access to a peer support network after the conclusion of the program.
This program lays the foundation for additional offerings that will explore the application of mindfulness in specific sectors: healthcare, education and organizational development.
Dates:
This program will start October 1, 2016 and ending March 30, 2017. (The actual dates for the sessions will established with the participants.)
Cost:
The cost for participants will be $800. Flexible payments plans will be available. A deposit of $200 will be required if you are accepted into the program to hold your place. The remainder of the fee can be paid in six monthly installments or in one payment.
